United Rugby Championship: Bulls ‘not worried’ who Leinster select to face them

The Bulls are focusing on picking up maximum points when they face high-riding Leinster in Pretoria on Saturday and are not concerned which players will be turning out for the Irish province in that match.

That was the word from Bulls lock Ruan Vermaak, who said the Pretoria-based outfit’s main goal is to finish in the best possible position in the United Rugby Championship (URC) standings ahead of this weekend’s final round of matches during the league phase of the competition.

The Bulls currently occupy seventh position on the URC table – with 48 points amassed from 17 matches played – and a win a could see them move up to a higher position ahead of the play-offs.

“It’s a massive week and massive game for us,” said Vermaak.

“We want to get as many points as possible and that’s our only concern. We can only worry about what we do.

“There are other teams playing and a lot will depend on who wins and who loses … but our preparation has gone well and our aim is to perform to the best of our ability.”

Leinster are sitting pretty at the top of the standing on 79 points from their 17 matches played.

Leinster still unbeaten

They are unbeaten so far this season with a 22-22 draw against the Stormers in Round 16 being their only fixture which they did not win.

Leo Cullen’s charges are 15 points ahead of second-placed Ulster and have the luxury of resting their first-choice players for their clash with the Bulls.

Despite that, Vermaak said who Leinster picks for Saturday’s clash is not something which the concerns the Bulls.

“We’re not worried about who we’re going to be playing against… this is Leinster, the best side in the URC,” he added.

“They’re a very good team, no matter which side they send into action.”
