Seeing Tottenham succeed is hardly high on former Arsenal star Martin Keown’s wish list but he admits it’s ‘sad’ that Harry Kane could leave the club this summer.
Numerous reports have suggested Kane has asked for a transfer away from Spurs, with moves to Man City and Manchester United mooted.
These are chaotic times for Spurs and Keown has pinpointed the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino in November 2019 as the moment where the soul of the club was ‘ripped out’.
Jose Mourinho was hired as his successor but was dismissed six days before they lost to Man City in this season’s Carabao Cup final.
And Keown suggested that letting Pochettino go, plus failure in recent times has led to Kane deciding he’s had enough of life with the north London club.
“I think it’s a sad day for Spurs because he’s been quite magnificent for them,” Keown told talkSPORT. “He’s been there for 16 years boy and man.
“I just feel with Daniel Levy, the decisions that he’s made with Mourinho coming in with his style and clashing with the players and Kane probably feels the club is lost.
“I feel they should have stuck with Pochettino. They kind of ripped the soul out of the club when they let him leave – they panicked.
