During his time as champion, the stoic sentinel Tommaso Ciampa stood atop the WWE NXT landscape as a seemingly uncaring, emotionless harbinger of violence and destruction.
From the brutal assaults on his once best friend Johnny Gargano, to each of his deeply physical title defenses, the 14-year professional wrestling veteran has shown absolutely no remorse ever since setting out on his own two years ago at NXT Takeover: Chicago.
That all changed in one 13-minute video.
“There goes all my heat,” Ciampa tweeted out earlier this week, after an emotional video was released by the WWE Performance Center taking an intimate look behind his recent surgery, leading up to the moments before undergoing neck surgery.
In the video Ciampa actually reveals who the “real Goldie” is, in reference to the name he bestowed upon the NXT Championship during his incredible title reign. As it turns out, the real reason the so-called Sicilian Psychopath fights is his baby daughter Willow, who got a ton of adorable screen time along with Ciampa’s wife Jessie.
