While Van Gaal guided United back into the Champions League after Moyes’ seventh place finish, and Mourinho won a treble in 2016/17, Sinclair suggests axing the Scot has not had a positive impact on the Red Devils.
“Manchester United would be in a better position if they stuck with David Moyes,” he told Jim White on talkSPORT.
“You look at his win percentage and the amount of money he had at his disposal, and the amount of time he was given, or lack of it – I think they would be in a better position.”
Moyes has struggled since leaving United, spending a poor year in charge of Real Sociedad and then getting Sunderland relegated from the Premier League.
His most recent job was as manager of West Ham, and he actually did fairly well in east London, securing the Hammers’ Premier League survival before leaving at the end of the 2017/18 season.
