Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola hails ‘extraordinary’ attack in 8-0 thrashing of Watford but still finds flaws with performance

Having been beaten by Norwich last weekend, City took out their frustrations on Watford at the Etihad with a stunning display which saw them score five times inside the opening 18 minutes.

Ever the perfectionist, Guardiola was not entirely happy with the chances they allowed for the Hornets to get back into the game early on but praised his ‘extraordinary’ attack.

He said: “Well it was a lovely day, a lovely result and a good performance but after 1-0 we gave them two chances to score two goals and they didn’t do that and then we did it.

“What can I say? Five shots on target and five goals. This is football. Last game we shot 15 against Norwich and we couldn’t score as much as possible.

“The quality we have upfront is extraordinary and that’s why we can do what we have done.

“I liked especially the second half because after 5-0 in this kind of game people start to think for themselves and don’t do what you have to do offensively and defensively.

“We spoke about that and why we should run more than necessary. We were more aggressive without the ball in the second half.”
