Harry Kane told it’s time to leave Tottenham after England captain’s ‘I want to win the biggest trophies’ remark and David Ginola predicts ‘surprise’ move

Harry Kane will have to leave Tottenham this summer in order to fulfil his career ambitions of winning football’s top titles.

The England skipper reiterated his desire to win ‘the biggest prizes’ in an interview earlier this week, following the north London club’s 1-0 defeat to Man City in the Carabao Cup final.

And Ginola believes Kane, who was recently named the Premier League Player of the Year prize at the London Football Awards, now has to go walk away from his beloved side for the sake of his career.

“I think unfortunately he has to,” said the former Spurs star when asked if Kane should leave this summer.

“Because his club haven’t provided for a player like him the sort of things he was expecting, like potentially winning trophies.

“I think he’s looking at his career now and over the last few years it has been good for him, but not really for the club.

“Even though they’ve competed in the Champions League final, I’m pretty sure he wants to play for a team that will challenge for any title in any country.”

Ginola believes Kane’s next potential destination could come as a ‘surprise’ to many in the game.

And while a move to north London rivals Arsenal is out of the question, the Frenchman says joining another capital club could happen.

“I think it will be a decision made with his family and it will probably be a surprise in the end with his choice,” Ginola added.

“Maybe he will take an opportunity to go to a club without going too far away from London and obviously that would be a London club.

“That would be a big surprise for me as when you play for Spurs it’s a London club so you’re not going to Arsenal.

“Having said that football is a different world now. Players’ decisions are completely unexpected.”

So could Spurs chairman Daniel Levy – a notoriously shrewd operator – convince Kane to stay? Ginola doesn’t think so.
