LOS ANGELES, CA — Across freeways and front yards, Southlanders stopped to watch a bright orb arch across the evening sky, leaving a glowing trail above Southern California Monday night.
It was a SpaceX Falcon 9 launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base and carrying 23 Starlink internet satellites, according to SpaceFlightNow.
The launch took place at 7:28 p.m. Monday and could be seen all across the Southland. The Falcon 9’s first stage booster landed on the droneship ‘Of Course I Still Love You’ in the Pacific Ocean.

The Falcon 9’s first stage was slated to come back to Earth within 9 minutes of liftoff. The Falcon 9’s upper stage is expected deploy the satellites low into Earth’s orbit about an hour after liftoff. the mission mark’s the 10th for this Falcon 9 booster, according to SpaceX.
