The former England defender, who was team-mates with Berahino at Stoke, launched a brutal attack on the striker’s character in an extraordinary talkSPORT interview last month.
When asked about whether he liked his former team-mate, after the Potters had recently paid £2.5million to terminate his contract, Johnson said: “No, if I’m being brutally honest.
“I’ve worked with loads of players who may not have been up to the level, but they’re nice people and they work hard and try. He wasn’t at the level and he didn’t try, so it’s hard to accept.
“If I was a manager or club owner, I wouldn’t take him if you paid me.”
Sheffield United midfielder Ravel Morrison, whose career has also been littered with disciplinary issues, was one of several players to take issue with Johnson’s comments.
