From Home Business To Store Front, Lisa Vega Calls Her Journey Amazing

MILFORD, CT – Being the first person in her family to own a business, Lisa Vega said it is motivating knowing where she began her journey.

“It’s extremely motiving to know where I came from and the steps I took to create a better future for myself,” she said. “It’s an amazing feeling to know that I can potentially be an inspiration for other people from the same Hispanic background as I do.”

Vega is the owner of Lyra Luxe Beauty Salon, 222 Bridgeport Ave., in Milford.

“I started doing nails three years ago, so this is the first salon I’ve opened, but three years exactly doing nails and I’ve opened a salon,” she said. “We’ve introduced other lines of the beauty industry, such as lash extensions, hair and makeup.”

Lyra Luxe Beauty Salon officially opened in January but held its grand opening celebration Thursday, May 4.

“Aside from working from home, Being able to expand my services and build a brand name that goes further than doing nails is what pushed me to open,” Vega said. “I also wanted to get a group of other talented girls who can offer services, and bringing them together under one location was another motivating factor.”

Lyra Luxe Beauty Salon is located in Milford’s Devon Village, making it a close commute from where Vega lives in Stratford.

“Milford was my ideal location because it is such a lively area, and there are many different businesses, especially on this strip,” she said. “I saw this space was vacant, and I figured why not now. I had been doing nails for three years on my own, and I figured it was time to open a beauty salon.”

During the three years of operating her nail business at home, Vega said she had an idea of eventually opening up a beauty salon but didn’t think it would happen as quickly as it did.

“At first, I focused more on it being a nail salon, but I realized other talents could be in the same space. It made me want to open a beauty salon,” she said.

Vega said she’s had positive feedback from her friends, customers and the business community on her grand opening.

“I think the best thing is them seeing the come-up, how I started from my house, and now instead of walking through my house, they are walking through a salon and seeing every detail and how it is a part of me,” she said. “They notice the décor, the pink, the dollar signs, they see it’s part of who I am, and they appreciate it.”

For Vega, the most fulling part of having a team around her is watching them grow as she did and their business flourish.

“I would like to get my entire team opportunities for them to grow and succeed even farther than this,” she said. “To see them start at the same point that I was at and expand, whether it is opening their salon if they want to, is probably the most fulfilling part that I get to witness and get to be a part of.”
