ENFIELD, CT — A search warrant executed during an investigation of illegal weapons and ammunition resulted in the arrest of an Enfield man Tuesday morning.

Jacob Torres, 44, was charged with three counts of illegal possession of an assault weapon, nine counts of illegal possession of a large capacity magazine and four counts of failure to obtain and engrave serial numbers.

He was released after posting $50,000 bond, and is slated to appear in Hartford Superior Court on March 26.

The case began with a domestic violence call on Dec. 5, at which time Torres was charged with second-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace.

“There was a concern of firearms owned by him, that were in a safe,” Police Chief Alaric Fox told Patch.

A search warrant was obtained for the guns in the safe, which led to discovery of high capacity magazines, unregistered assault weapons and firearm, and three guns without serial numbers.

Among the weapons seized were an AR-style pistol, an M4-style AR-15 rifle and an AR-10-style rifle. Each appeared to be self-assembled, not built by a firearm company, Fox said.

Nine magazines containing morethan10 rounds each were found, and a Glock-style gun contained a serial number not registered to Torres. Additionally, Torres has no magazines listed on a Connecticut weapons registry check, Fox said.
