This will make you feel old – Kasper Schmeichel is now a bigger star in Denmark than Peter Schmeichel.
That’s according to former international Martin Laursen, who has told talkSPORT the current Danish no.1 is now more well-known in the country than his Manchester United legend dad.
Kasper has achieved great things in his career, including winning the Premier League with Leicester in 2015/16 and also won the FA Cup with the Foxes last month.

However, Peter has more to boast about in terms of trophies having won five Premier League titles, three FA Cups and a Champions League winners’ medal.
Peter was also Denmark’s goalkeeper when they surprisingly became European champions in 1992.
But, despite his father’s place in the history books, Kasper is the bigger deal in the Scandinavian nation now, says Laursen.
“Nowadays everyone talks about Kasper Schmeichel,” Laursen told talkSPORT 2.
“If you say ‘Schmeichel, everyone thinks of Kasper Schmeichel, not Peter Schmeichel,”
“My generation was obviously Peter Schmeichel but now when I say to my kids, ‘Schmeichel’, they don’t think about Peter Schmeichel. #
“Obviously it’s Kasper Schmeichel. He’s the big star.”
Kasper and co. begin their Euro 2020 campaign on Saturday as they take on Nordic rivals Finland in Copenhagen, LIVE on talkSPORT 2.
Belgium and Russia are also in Group B, and former Aston Villa and AC Milan defender Laursen revealed there are high expectations for this crop of players in Denmark.
He even claims they could be one of the tournament’s surprise packages and would like to see them reach the semi-finals.
