Jack Grealish could make his long-awaited return from injury after being named on the Aston Villa bench for the visit of Everton.
Villa’s talisman has been out since February with a shin problem – missing 12 games in the process – as the England playmaker races to be fit for Euro 2020.
Grealish’s three-month lay-off has coincided with a real drop in form for his club side – who have won just three times in his absence to see their European hopes disappear.
Speaking ahead of the match, Villa boss Dean Smith confirmed Grealish was in contention to be named on the bench against the Toffees.
“The latest is he trained with the group yesterday and he trained with the group on Saturday,” he explained.
“When he comes in today, I’ll speak to him and see how he feels.
