Fall collections are hitting stores fast, and I like what I see. Here’s a roundup of items that caught my eye last week as I browsed with clients. Lots of traditional Autumn hues and far less grey. Some items come in several colours, so do check them out.
- Club Monaco Damari Sweatshirt: The best part about the sweatshirt are the cuffed bell sleeves that give it structure, a dose of pretty, and a practical integrity. Streamlined and gently fluid. Architectural drape. It would be mine if it wasn’t grey (or black).
- Treasure&Bond Retro Medallion Tassel Scarf: A GIGANTIC scarf that doubles as a shawl and makes a statement. Super soft, warm and cosy. Tasseled texture. Good for those who have wool allergies. It followed me home to complement my new burgundy boots.
- Frye Harness Leather Belt: Gorgeous casually weathered belt with a good amount of polish. The D-ring makes a Modern Retro statement. The black and silver is as nice.
- Madewell Camden Sweater Coat: A drapey sweater coat in a delicious shade of toffee. Fabulous over just about anything. A slam dunk over sheaths and shifts, but try it over A-line silhouettes to change things up. Might run a size big.
- Massimo Dutti Down Jacket With Jacquard Detail: A subtle pink camouflage jacket that’s best on a long neck and smaller bust. Fun Modern Retro trapeze silhouette. Casually polished. Runs small.
- Massimo Dutti Green Wool Coat: Fun jade green cocoon coat. Oversized. It’s textured so it might remind you of a bath robe. An acquired taste.
- ECI Floral Midi Dress: Earthy Sheath Fabness. Fabric is quite substantial.
- Treasure&Bond Floral Fantasy Tassel Scarf: A GIGANTIC scarf that doubles as a shawl and makes a statement. Super soft, warm and cozy. Tasseled texture. Great on those who wear grey well. Cool-toned.
- Treasure&Bond Embossed Leather Belt: A casually maximal belt that’s rich and earthy. Size small fits a US4.
- Madewell Kent Cardigan Sweater: A roomy cardi with a clever fit. It’s very fluid but drapes to create a streamlined effect. Side slits and welting temper the volume. Nice assortment of neutrals.
- Alfani Bell-Sleeve Cardigan, Created for Macy’s: A fitted jacket with stretch and unique sleeve. Good on curvy figures, broad shoulders and apple shapes because it moulds to the body – but not in a clingy way. Great with skirts and wide leg pants. Lots of good colours.
- Veronica Beard Davis Camo Print Turtleneck Sweater: Rich, chunky and structured in just the right places. Best on a long neck and smaller bust. A little short for tall gals and long waists.
- Capulet | Anthropologie Vegan Leather Flight Jacket: Modern Retro Faux Leather Fabness. A little stiff, but fab all the same. The collar is removable. Cheeky length, and fably styled on the model with high-waisted wide pants and sneakers.
- Trina Turk Jemma Shawl Collar Coat: A beautiful Modern Retro coat that runs a size big. Best on a curvy figure with a defined waist. Dressy.
- J.Crew Faux-fur leopard coat: ’70s Fabness. Cuddly, timeless and beyond body type. You’re either going to love or loathe the bulk. Rich colours. Size down.
- Madewell Face It Charm Lariat Necklace: Fab necklace for V-shaped necklines.
- Karen Millen CAPE WOOL COAT: Belted capes are fab because they’re structured. Can work on a shorter neck and larger bust because the collar folds and creates a V-shape in front. Best on a regular or long waist.
- Karen Millen METALLIC TURTLENECK JUMPER: Disco turtleneck to wear with skirts and high-waisted wide pants/jeans. Very form-fitting. Runs small.
- Karen Millen SHOULDER STRAP CROSS-BODY BAG: Super cute maximal shoulder-strap crossbody bag. Double pattern. Comes in a diagonal black and white stripe too.
- Karen Millen LEOPARD PRINT PONY WAISTBELT: Chic and classic animal print belt. Polished.
- Banana Republic Italian Wool-Blend Peplum-Hem Military Coat: A military peplum blazer for a long waist. Not good on a large bust. Just as nice in taupe. I found it scratchy, but that was not an issue with others.
