The Scots’ slim hopes of automatic qualification for next summer’s Euros ended in Moscow – and manager Steve Clarke described the defeat as ‘the lowest of the low’.

His side conceded four goals in 27 second-half minutes, which means they’ve now let in 14 goals in Clarke’s five games in charge.

Adam told talkSPORT: “It’ll be interesting to see where he [Clarke] finds the players, because at the moment it’s difficult to see where you’ll find players at the level to play international football.

“Who’s leading the group on the pitch? I don’t see the leaders in the group at the moment.

“Steve’s got a tough job on his hands, because I don’t think enough of those players are at the level to play international football.”

Meanwhile, Ally McCoist compared the situation to the current turmoil at Manchester United.

“We’ve got one or two good players defensively,” he added. “[John] McGinn’s a good player, [Andy] Robertson’s a good player, [Kieran] Tierney’s a good player.

“[Scott] McTominay’s still got a lot of work to do. Let’s not get carried away just because he’s playing for Manchester United… do you remember where Manchester United are?
