Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must spend MORE than £1billion to fix Manchester United, says former Celtic and Chelsea striker Chris Sutton

Writing in his Daily Mail column, Sutton, the former Chelsea and Celtic striker, says United fielded a midfield against West Ham not even worthy of the Premier League’s top ten.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s matchday choices are forced on him due to the lack of quality in Man United’s squad, and there are clearly serious issues considering the Red Devils ended Sunday’s defeat with Jesse Lingard, a midfielder who hasn’t scored since last December, playing up front.

United spent around £145million during the summer to strengthen Solskjaer’s squad, bringing in Daniel James, the winger, and defenders Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka – but Sutton believes that outlay is nowhere near enough to fix the Old Trafford club.
