JOLIET — This week, the Joliet Police Department arrested a 41-year-old citizen in connection with a violent attack of another man inside his garage on the city’s east side. Fabian Leon-Lopez was later given his notice to appear at the Will County Courthouse on charges of aggravated battery and possession of a controlled substance, which was cocaine, the arrest reports show.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the following set of events happened on Monday:
The officers responded to a house in the 400 block of Leach Avenue for a battery and the officers learned that a 30-year-old man had been attacked while in the detached garage by Leon-Lopez. It is believed that Leon-Lopez arrived to confront the victim in the garage over text messages that the victim had allegedly sent. Officers were advised that Leon-Lopez struck the victim in the head multiple times with an unknown object in his hand during a fight that ensued between the two.
