Unfortunately, as a result of the smoke condition, one dog belonging to the victim was dead, said King.

No other injuries were reported.

Following an investigation, the fire was found to be accidental and began in a basement trashcan within the affected unit, said King.

Along with police, Liberty Corner Fire Company, Basking Ridge Fire Company and Peapack-Gladstone First Aid and Rescue Squad Inc. also came to the help with the fire.
