BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Baking sweet treats has always been a love and passion for Salima Manji. Now that she has her Cottage License, the Basking Ridge mother and wife is sharing it with the community.
Manji officially received her LLC for Sugary’s in February but she has been baking long before that.
“I just loved baking,” said Manji to Patch. “Every time there was a party at the house, I would go crazy baking and people just started really, really appreciating it. And I just had this craze to just bake all the time.”

Manji found herself baking every weekend.
She joked that she baked so much she was going to turn her husband into a pre-diabetic. That’s when her children and family encouraged her to start her business Sugary’s.

She started her business with her cakes, which she says she is “famous for” with her family and friends.
Since February Manji has expanded to offer a variety of party favors such as cake pops, chocolate chip pretzels, chocolate-covered Oreos, and more.
She also tackled the “Dubai viral cake,” which has been trending on social media. Sugary’s version includes a moist triple chocolate fudge cake, layered with chocolate ganache, pistachio cream and kunafa vermicelli filling – “bursting with Middle Eastern flavors.”
Since opening Manji said she has received lots of positive feedback from customers prompting her to continue to be innovative, creative, and produce new items every day.
“I’m loving it. I enjoy doing it, It’s my passion,” said said Manji. “So, you know, they say, follow your passion, right?”
