L’Équipe report this morning that an inscription in red paint titled “Jews & Nîmes fans – the same fight” was visible on Sunday evening at the exit of the largest car park at Montpellier’s stadium, where the buses due to transport Nîmes’ ultras were parked.
The 605 Nîmes fans who were authorised to travel to witness their side lose 3-0 to their fierce Montpellier rivals faced a complicated trip home – with one of their cars attacked at the entrance of the parking lot by stones and Molotov cocktails. Several windows exploded and tear gas was deployed by police.
On the way back to Nîmes, a second car was halted by supposed Montpellier fans at Vendargues – windows of this vehicle were broken and the Nîmes fan was hurt – he was subsequently bandaged up by emergency services.
