Speaking in his post-match press conference following Real Madrid’s 3-0 defeat to PSG in the opening group stage game of this season’s Champions’ League, manager Zinedine Zidane gave a frank assessment of his side’s performance.
“Tonight there is nothing to say, PSG deserved to win the match. They were very good at every level and we were less good. We did not perform well and at this level of competition, if our level and the rhythm are not heightened for us, it is very difficult. That is what happened tonight. We played against a team that put us under pressure, that was very good at every level and that scored 3 goals against us.”
“The second half was no better, we were quickly put back into difficulty. Over the 90 minutes, we did not create a lot of chances. They were the best tonight, we are going to have settle down and think about our match. We were eaten alive in the duels tonight. We are going to continue to work.”
