Locked Doors Thwart Attempted Truck Burglary: Livingston Police

LIVINGSTON, NJ — A Livingston resident helped to stop an attempted vehicle burglary this week with a simple maneuver, police said: locking their car doors.

According to the Livingston Police Department, officers responded to a home on Hillside Terrace at 11:44 p.m. on Monday after getting a report about a person pulling on the door handles of two trucks parked in the driveway.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, authorities said.

The homeowner said they had video surveillance of the burglary attempt, adding that the theft was thwarted when the suspect couldn’t enter the locked vehicles.

The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating the incident, police said.
