North Shore Live Performance Series Showcases Suburban Theater, Music

GLENCOE, IL — Local tourism boosters this month launch a new six-week series of live shows to promote local theater and concert venues.

The first-ever North Shore Live event kicks off on March 17, with a variety of participating venues offering special promotional prices to upcoming performances, promising to shine a spotlight on the evening entertainment and theater that is setting the suburbs abuzz.

The event is sponsored by Chicago’s North Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau, a 15-year-old local tourism bureau funded by contributions from businesses and nearly a dozen local governments in the north and northwest suburbs.

“For many areas outside Chicago, there is little to do after the dinner hour,” said Gina Speckman, the bureau’s executive director.

“The richness of the theatrical and musical talent that perform in our unique venues help make visitors choose and then return to Chicago’s North Shore as a preferred destination,” Speckman said in a statement.
