L’Équipe report that 25-year-old French right-back Frédéric Guilbert is being pushed towards the exit door, just 12 months after joining Aston Villa from Normandy side SM Caen for €3.5m excluding bonuses.
Villa have signed Matty Cash from Nottingham Forest, who plays in the same position – the outlet claims that a number of Premier League and Championship clubs have become alerted to this situation. A return to France is also a possibility for Guilbert, who is under contract with Villa until June 2023.
