FONTANA, CA — A woman has fallen into a sinkhole, estimated 25 feet deep, in Fontana Thursday morning. She is trapped but is “awake and talking,” according to San Bernardino County Fire Department firefighters.
At 10:15 a.m., firefighters responded to the scene in the 8200 block of Cherry Avenue in Fontana, where 911 callers reported a woman had fallen into a sinkhole.
Within 15 minutes of arrival, the department confirmed a confined space rescue was taking place.

“The victim is not visible from the surface,” a spokesperson for the department said.
Just before 10 a.m., a 911 caller reported that the victim had fallen down into the sinkhole that opened between two trailers at the Fontana trailer park, a San Bernardino County Fire Department spokesperson told Patch.
