Speaking to RMC Sport, 37-year-old Lille and Portuguese international central defender José Fonte revealed that he had negotiated a Ligue 1 title winning bonus into his original contract with the club when he first joined in 2018.
“When I arrived, I spoke with Marc Ingla (Lille Director General) in terms of a title bonus. Because I believe that everything is possible in football. Aside from that, you have to work a lot and have the mentality. You have to believe that it is possible. It is also a bit down to my work. When I arrived, they thought I was completely crazy.”
