NAPA, CA — A mix of festival-goers and 49er fans packed downtown Napa Saturday night despite the pouring rain.
It was the opening night of the Napa Lighted Art Festival, while 49er fans were downtown to watch the playoff game.
Couples, families with children, and friend groups gazed with delight as an array of art installations and iconic downtown Napa buildings became illuminated in stark contrast with the night sky.

The festival is a five-week celebration of creative arts, technology and lights —promising a unique art-after-dark experience for attendees. The free, walkable outdoor event features 12 lighted art installations by award-winning regional and international artists.

For the first nine nights —Jan. 20-28— lighted artwork is also projected onto three iconic Napa buildings. Members of the First Presbyterian Church, which is one of those buildings, were on hand to provide cookies and hot apple cider to help guests stay warm in the wintry conditions.
“By blending technology, art and light, the festival creates an atmosphere that captivates audiences and fosters a sense of unity,” said Npaa Mayor Scott Sedgley. “I am proud to be part of an event that celebrates creativity, uplifts spirits and contributes to the cultural tapestry of Napa.”
