Jérôme Boateng apologises to fans after Lyon’s 4-1 defeat to Rennes

Speaking to Prime Video at the end of his team’s 4-1 debacle against Rennes, Lyon defender Jérôme Boateng explained the reasons behind the defeat and apologised to fans. His words transcribed in L’Équipe, the German also discussed an incident that saw him show his frustration with teammate Léo Dubois in the first half.

Bruno Génésio’s side had hit the target eight times in the first half, ending the match with 12 – Les Gones had no shots at all until the hour mark. At the 39th minute, cameras would catch Boateng’s moment of anger towards the French right-back, seemingly on a marking error.
