Agoura Hills Creek Cleanup Set For Sept. 9

AGOURA HILLS, CA — They say many hands make light work — and that couldn’t be more true when it comes to the major impact of the city’s annual creek clean up.

“This is the 9th year we have been organizing this event and it has helped removed over 50,000 lbs. of trash from our creeks and waterways,” city Councilmember Jeremy Wolf told Patch.

Some of the sites cleared by volunteers are locations that had been used for illegal dumping, which helps explain the enormous volume of trash collected over the years, Wolf said.

Here’s how you can help this year:

Bring your gloves, hat, sunscreen and water and meet at the southwest corner of Kanan and Agoura roads on Saturday, Sept. 9. Community members will work from 9 a.m. to noon to help remove trash from the city’s creeks, waterways and open spaces.

Participants can pitch in for as short or as long a duration as they’d like, joining the thousands who have helped out over the years, organizers said.

The city will provide trash bags, water bottle fill-up stations and light snacks.
