PLAINFIELD, IL — Farmers market season is almost upon Plainfield residents.
In its 16th year, the market will begin June 4 and run until Sept. 10. Similar to years past, it’ll be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Sunday at the corner of Route 59 and Lockport Street in downtown Plainfield.
Of what to expect of the season, it’ll be “fun and interesting,” Suzy Bostanche, the market’s organizer, told Patch.

Shoppers will be able to peruse a variety of fresh produce, meats, eggs, artisan cheeses, baked goods and handmade items in an open-air market. Some of this year’s stand-out sellers include a worm farm, candle makers, and “a lot of woodworking guys, too. … I finally have something for men,” Bostanche said.
“I’m all about small entrepreneurs, and people forget that these events are how small entrepreneurs meet [customers],” she said.

Ahead of each year’s farmers market, Bostanche has numerous vendors contacting her wanting to participate. But also she seeks them out by visiting other events.
“If I see something interesting,” she said, “I invite them to come to my market. … A lot of my people from the farmers market have gone on to be brick-and-mortars. I only charge $100 for the season, so if you can’t make it at my farmers market, I’d just be shocked.”
