Fernabahçe aiming to hijack rival’s move for PSG’s Mauro Icardi

According to L’Équipe Turkish side Fernabahçe are aiming to hijack rivals Galatasaray’s move for PSG striker Mauro Icardi – and have entered talks for the striker in recent hours, with the player interested in sealing a move before the transfer window shuts tomorrow.

Foot Mercato reported earlier today that the Argentinian international attacker was hoping to conclude a loan without option to buy move to Turkish giants Galatasaray in the coming hours.

Icardi and his wife and agent, Wanda Nara, took the trip to Istanbul last week to meet the Galatasaray board. Their response to the visit was very positive – they felt very nicely welcomed and appreciated their hospitality.

Discussions between the two clubs have accelerated in recent hours – initially, there were discussions about a possible option to buy included in the loan, but this has proven too complicated and we are heading towards a straight loan deal.

PSG have also agreed to pay a portion of Icardi’s salary during the duration of the loan spell – the 29-year-old is now attempting to apply pressure on all parties to make the move stick. Icardi has still not had a minute of football with PSG this season and is conscious that his World Cup squad position is precarious.
