According to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, the ongoing negotiations between WWE and Rey Mysterio could result in the former World Champion competing in a match at WrestleMania 34.
The report notes WWE officials are currently entertaining the idea of revealing Mysterio as Braun Strowman’s WrestleMania tag team partner for The Monster Among Men’s Raw Tag Team Title shot against The Bar. The report adds Vince Mcmahon is “strongly considering” the idea of pairing Mysterio and Strowman, but the final decision might come down to Mysterio’s injury status come April 8th.

As noted, Mysterio is currently dealing with a partially torn biceps muscle, and WWE sent him to Birmingham, Alabama last week to have his injury status evaluated. Mysterio’s prognosis following the evaluation is unknown, but his injury is at least serious enough that he was forced to pull out of last weekend’s NJPW Long Beach event, at which he was scheduled to compete against Jushin Liger.
Mysterio’s NJPW status is interesting, however, as he did make a surprise appearance in Long Beach to personally apologize to the fans for missing his scheduled “dream match” against Jushin Thunder Liger. He also promised that he would compete inside a New Japan ring as soon as he was medically cleared to do so.
