Tommaso Ciampa Tweeted his thoughts while watching the March 20 edition of NXT. It was on that program when Aleister Black, Ricochet, Velveteen Dream, Adam Cole and Matt Riddle faced off in a Fatal 5-Way.
The winner of that match would go on to face Johnny Gargano at Takeover: New York on April 5. Cole won the bout, so he and Johnny Wrestling will wage war for Ciampa’s NXT Championship.
Tommaso was forced to surrender the title due to injury. Ciampa had neck surgery in Birmingham, Alabama and now he’s on the road to recovery. Ciampa had a stranglehold on the title for 237 days and during that time, he became one of the most despicable heels in the company.
He and former DIY tag team partner Johnny Gargano had a highly intense feud in 2018, but their rivalry led to their eventual reunion in 2019.
However that reunion was a ruse on Gargano’s part. Johnny suckered Ciampa in, setting up a huge showdown between the two at Takeover. But that showdown will obviously have to wait, as Ciampa’s recovery time could take up to a full year.
A small piece of me died tonight.
