According to a spokesperson for the FOP106, which represents supervisors at the county-run prison, three of its members were assaulted by prisoners during the Sunday afternoon shift. One of them was taken to the hospital with facial injuries, the union reported.
The assaults apparently took place when an “uncooperative” inmate attempted to strike a sergeant. Other inmates then allegedly entered the fray, refusing orders to return to their cells, the union stated.

“What we know from preliminary reports is that as responding personnel were regaining control and working to restore order, at least two other supervisory staff members were assaulted – at least one of which required hospitalization,” FOP106 vice president James Troisi said.
Troisi added that the union has been hearing “particularly alarming reports of prisoners physically touching female staff members inappropriately.”
