Toulouse President Sadran appears resigned to club’s relegation after government ends 2019/20 season

Speaking to L’Équipe, Toulouse President Olivier Sadran appeared resigned to the fact that his club, who currently sit bottom of Ligue 1, will be relegated following the announcement by French Prime Minister Édouard Philippe that the 2019/20 campaign will stop at matchday 28, which is where it paused when COVID-19 initially hit the country.

“For me, football wins by not continuing. It was not, moreover, the desire of the supporters. The country is currently suffering from a health crisis. It will shortly face an economic crisis. It would have been very frowned upon to dissociate ourselves from this. Politicians have made the right decision. Relegation? Each day at a time. And you have to admit that we have not shown much quality during the season. For the moment, this is not a topic of conversation for me.”
