Speaking to L’Équipe, 26-year-old French midfielder Adrien Tameze discussed his current experiences at Atalanta, where he is currently on loan from OGC Nice.
On experiencing COVID-19 in Italy:
The club suggested to me that I stay at the training centre in Zingonia, and I accepted immediately because I could not see myself staying alone at home for two months in my new house. I arrived in Bergamo on 30th January and I was thrown straight in at the deep end, so I took quarantine as a pre-season, spending two months with some of my team-mates to integrate well. At the end of quarantine, I did a quick back and forth to Nice to sort out the administrative details, but nothing more.
On leaving OGC Nice:
It was the right moment to quit Nice, Atalanta was the best club for me, now, arriving in this period, it was not lucky but it was like this.
On his future, with Atalanta having an obligation to buy him from OGC Nice should he play 8 matches with them:
I have played two, with the rotations to come, it should be fine and I have been able to prove myself a lot in training in the last month. However, this has been something that worried me in quarantine. If the league had not returned… especially with Atalanta having tracked me for two years. A return to Nice would be difficult.
