Tagenarine Chanderpaul’s Test career was off to a nice start as he was unbeaten on 47 at stumps on Day 2 of the 1st Test between Australia and West Indies. The young man is the son of former West Indian batter Shivnarine Chanderpaul.
Tagenarine’s innings helped West Indies end on 74/0 in reply to Australia’s 598/4. He added another 4 runs on Day 3 before perishing after a fifty on debut.

What was interesting to watch when he came out to bat was how his batting stance resembled that of Shivnarine’s. Shivnarine, also a southpaw like his son, had a unique batting stance which while not technically perfect, proved to be extremely effective as he racked up over 20,000 international runs.

Shivnarine represented West Indies for over 2 decades and his son is following in his footsteps.
