In a concerning development, 70 people in Ara town of Bihar were attacked by a stray dog who went on a biting romp.
Bhojpur Superintendent of Police Pramod Kumar told PTI that the dog attacked 70 people in Shivganj, Shitla Tola, Mahadeva Road and Sadar Hospital areas on Wednesday.

He said all the injured people are undergoing treatment at the district hospital.
The police and civic authorities have intensified the search for the dog, he said, adding security personnel have also been deployed in certain areas.
Stray dogs shot dead in Begusarai
Earlier in January, at least 30 stray dogs in Bihar’s Begusarai district were killed by a team of shooters on the government’s orders.
A team was set up by the district administration and the Forest and Environment Department in Patna to tackle the fatal attacks by man-eating dogs in Begusarai.
The decision for this mass elimination of strays was taken, given the rising terror of wild dogs in the area.
Upon its arrival from Patna, the team shot down the ferocious stray dogs. The team was reportedly escorted by a hunter named Shakti Kumar from the Forest and Environment Department.
Together, they moved across regions including, Bahiyar of Bachwada, Kadarabad, Arba, Bhikhamchak, and Rani Panchayats and killed the stray dogs.
The locals, who were facing the wrath of these dogs, assisted the hunters in tracing and killing them.

Fatal dog attacks in Begusarai
In 2022, nearly 10 people faced attacks from man-eating dogs in the area. According to media reports, these dogs, in most cases, attacked women, accounting for the deaths of 10 female individuals.
A local told TOI that the dogs in packs targeted women, children or old men. To add to the horror of local villagers, they even scavenged the dead.
