WhatsApp group of dog fight club
According to the police, Rajkamal was the admin of a WhatsApp group that organised illegal dog fights.
The three accused were added to the group, with around a hundred members, by Rajkamal.
The group, police said, was involved in organising illegal dog fights.
Dog’s death leads to heated exchange
Trouble started after the dog of one of the accused Anand, died in a fight on February 26.
Some members had posted photos of Anand’s dog on the WhatsApp group.
Responding to this, some other members made comments that Anand felt were inappropriate.
Anand and the two other accused reportedly responded to such comments using abusive language, following which the trio was removed by the admin, Rajkamal.
“Anand’s dog died during one such fight. Some sarcastic messages were shared in the WhatsApp group and a war of words started. Some members made some comments about the incident in the group, which led to an argument, after which the accused were removed from the group,” Preet Pal Sangwan, ACP (crime) said.
Accused wanted to take revenge
This, however, did not go down with the three men who confronted Rajkamal on February 26 while he was on his way to BasPadamka village in Pataudi.
Rajkamal, a resident of Ashok Vihar Colony in Gurugram, had gone to meet his friend Gaurav along with his two companions named Pradeep and Ravindra, when the three men attacked him.
One attacker also suffered bullet injury
According to Rajkamal, Anand grabbed him from behind while Bhupender assaulted him and Hitesh took out a gun and opened fire.
Rajkamal, who suffered injuries on his stomach after two bullets brushed past him, was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Bhupender also suffered a gunshot wound during the incident since it was dark.
Accused booked of attempt to murder
An FIR was registered on the complaint of Rajkamal and the three accused were arrested on Thursday.
They have been booked under sections 307 (murder attempt), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC, and section 25-54-59 of the arms act.
The police also recovered a country-made gun and a vehicle used by the accused.
