L’Équipe report today that Paris Saint-Germain are still open to extending Sergio Ramos’ contract, with the veteran defender’s deal with the Ligue 1 champions running until the end of the current season.
The Spaniard was the subject of criticism for his showing against Lens on Sunday night, his first loss as a PSG player, raising questions with regard to his level of performances as he approaches 37 years of age. Belgian forward Loïs Openda proved particularly tough to deal with for the Andalusian.
The former Real Madrid man, though, has taken on an important role in the dressing room, leading by example in his professional attitudes and speaking up when necessary. The club’s management are aware of this, and a potential one or two-year renewal has been brought up. The final decision is yet to be made though, as sporting advisor Luís Campos expects the World Cup winner to show he can still deliver on the pitch.
