Monaco’s Félix Lémarechal set to join Brest on loan

Get French Football News can confirm the news reported by Foot Mercato and L’Équipe that AS Monaco midfielder Félix Lémarechal (19) is set to join Stade Brestois on loan until the end of the season.

Lémarechal was absent from first-team training at the club’s performance centre in La Turbie on Monday ahead of his move – Get French Football News can confirm. He has already travelled to finalise the deal, which is a simple loan, without an option to purchase the player. Captain of the club’s Groupe Elite, Monaco still count on the French midfielder for the future.

Lémarechal currently has his path to the first team blocked by multiple players. Youssouf Fofana and Mohamed Camara represent displaceable elements in the Principality side’s midfield, whilst Eliot Matazo, Jean Lucas and Soungoutou Magassa all seem to be ahead of Lémarechal in the pecking order.

The loan will allow Lémarechal to accrue crucial first-team experience between now and the end of the season before returning to the Principality in the summer and competing for a place in the Monaco midfield.
