Both Sky Sport‘s Florian Plettenberg and Dutch outlet Voetbal International report that Lyon have been unsuccessful in their bid to sign Ajax midfielder Florian Grillitsch, with the Austrian turning down a move to sign for the Ligue 1 side.
The 27-year-old, who moved to the Dutch capital last summer after five years with Hoffenheim, has decided to stay as he looks to recover from various injury issues this season to earn playing time with Ajax. Grillitsch had previously turned out for formative club Werder Bremen’s senior side for two years until his move to Hoffenheim in 2017.

Lyon had put forward a bid worth €2m, which could potentially rise to €3m with add-ons, but the Austrian international will not become their third signing of the summer. João Gomes had also been target for the John Textor-owned side to reinforce their midfield, but the 21-year-old has instead opted for a move to Premier League side Wolves.
