UEFA has been urged to put Chelsea and Manchester City fans before their VIPs and sponsors and move the Champions League final to Wembley.

The governing body has announced the European showpiece has been moved from Istanbul to Porto’s Estadio do Dragao, but talkSPORT host Alan Brazil insists it’s in the interest of thousands of fans’ safety to stage the all-English final in the UK.

UEFA announced on Thursday Porto will now host Chelsea vs Man City on May 29 after Turkey was placed on the UK’s high-risk ‘red list’ for international travel.

There were efforts to move the match to Wembley but, after talks with the UK Government on Monday, the Football Association could not secure quarantine exemptions for thousands of sponsors set to attend

While the final capacity in Portugal is set to be fixed, 6,000 tickets will be made available to both Chelsea and Man City fans.

The bid to host the game at Wembley is said to have failed as the UK Government could not give UEFA guarantees over the COVID exceptions it wanted for members of staff, VIPs and sponsors.

It is claimed UEFA believes holding the game Portugal will make it easier to gain access for sponsors and broadcasters – who would need to be compensated if they were unable to attend.

talkSPORT Breakfast host Brazil was outraged by the move as he reacted to the news on Thursday morning.

The former Manchester United and Scotland striker insists moving the game to England is ‘common sense’ and told UEFA to put the needs and safety of fans above their financial concerns.

Brazil said: “It looks like Portugal will have the final but, for the life of me, why can’t it be in England?

“We’re not interested in your VIPs and your sponsors, we’re interested in two sets of supporters!

“They would gladly go to the game in England with no risk of catching anything going abroad, jumping on planes.

“Let’s think about the two sets of supporters, for God’s sake. Why don’t they have it in England, not Portugal?!

“If it’s over in Portugal, the Prime Minister has got to get involved. This is strange year and we have to protect people, so why should the fans have to go and leave the country when they’re two English sides?!
