There were shock scenes in south east London on Saturday as some of the 2,000 fans returning to The Den audibly jeered as the players took the knee ahead of Millwall’s defeat by Derby.
It was a much more positive sight on Tuesday evening as supporters applauded the QPR and Millwall players as they stood arm-in-arm before kick-off holding a banner which read: ‘inequality – united for change’.
Some QPR players also took the knee pre-match, before Ilias Chair and Bright Osayi-Samuel made the gesture in support of Black Lives Matter after the former opened the scoring at The Den.
The Lions equalised through Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, but they are now winless in nine matches. Nonetheless, they remain in 14th place, three points ahead of Tuesday’s opponents.
