In honor of the start of World Vegan Month, British footwear and
lifestyle label Dr. Martens will be working closely together with
animal’s rights group Peta to raise awareness for veganism by
showcasing its vegan footwear collection.
“Dr. Martens is proud to offer vegan consumers its world-famous
air-cushioned styles in the highest quality animal-free materials,
which replicate our standard footwear right down to the very last
detail and even boast a more natural-feeling heel loop,” said the
footwear company.
The vegan footwear collection, which consists of its two most iconic
styles the 8 eye boot and the 3 eye shoe, was first launched as part
of Dr. Martens Autumn/Winter 2011 and since then has grown to become
part of its permanent product offering.

“So many great fashion retailers and brands are catering to the
rapidly expanding vegan market, [showing] you definitely don’t have to
compromise on style when it comes to being cruelty-free,” commented
Peta UK Director Mimi Bekhechi. “Dr. Martens is demonstrating this
point perfectly with an impressive range of its iconic boots – but
minus the animal suffering.”
To celebrate World Vegan Month and Dr. Martens commitment to vegan
footwear, Peta will be hosting an online competition where one lucky
winner will win a pair of Dr. Martens vegan shoes in the style of
their choice. The competition, which will go live this evening, is
open to all UK participants and runs until the end of November.
World Vegan Day, which marks the start of World Vegan Month, was first
established by Louise Wallis, the former chair of The Vegan Society
UK, in 1994.
