In the wake of Spurs’ Audi Cup win over Real Madrid in Munich, Pochettino said the club should change his job title as he ‘knows nothing’ about any transfer activity and feels he is just a coach.
Tottenham broke their transfer record to sign Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon earlier this month but no further signings have followed, despite chairman Daniel Levy vowing to strengthen the squad after signing a new £320m sponsorship deal.
Spurs fans made their voice heard on social media on Tuesday night as they got #BackPoch trending on Twitter, as they pleaded for Levy and club owners ENIC to make signings happen with just eight days of the transfer window remaining.
And after watching his team beat Real Madrid in Germany, thanks to Harry Kane’s only goal of the game, Pochettino admitted he has no idea about the club’s transfer plans.
“I am not in charge and I know nothing about the situation of my players,” said the Argentine. “I am only coaching them and trying to get the best from them.
