Stam and Johnsen were formidable for the Red Devils during their 1999 treble winning season.

Players from that team were reunited at Old Trafford for a legends game against Bayern Munich – who they beat in the Champions League final.

The anniversary game marked 20 years since the treble-winning campaign, while also raising over £1.5m for the Manchester United Foundation.

While United edged past Bayern with two late goals in Barcelona back in 1999, the scoreline was far wider this time around, as efforts from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Yorke, Nicky Butt, Louis Saha and Beckham earned them a 5-0 victory.

Asked who stood out for him during the game, current United boss Solskjaer told BT Sport: “Well… Scholsey.

“Jaap and Ronny – we could do with them two at the back.

“They were fantastic the whole season, the ’99 season, those two were unbelievable.”
